球探足球比分’s Performance Creation Concentration is the first low-residency program in the country?designed specifically for theater artists, choreographers, musicians, or other artists working specifically in performance creation.

PLAINFIELD, Vt. – Stephanie Batten Bland is the founder and artistic director of Company BBB, an interdisciplinary dance theater company performing original works that she conceives and choreographs.
Since 2008, Batten Bland and Company SBB has received commissions from the Second Avenue Dance Company (New York City), Modlin Center for the Arts (Richmond, VA), Zenon Dance Company (Minneapolis, MN), Transitions Dance Company (London), Alvin Ailey II Company (New York City) and Frontier Danceland (Singapore).
Batten Bland, who teaches improvisation and contemporary partnering at the Ailey/Fordham BFA program, entered 球探足球比分’s MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts Program in spring 2017. She was one of the first to enroll in the program’s newly inaugurated Performance Creation Concentration, the first low-residency program in the country?designed specifically for theater artists, choreographers, musicians, or other artists working specifically in performance creation.
Twenty currently enrolled MFA students—including actors, theater directors, choreographers, musicians, playwrights, and performance artists—elected the concentration in its first semester this spring.
Building upon the interdisciplinary strength of the Interdisciplinary Arts MFA at 球探足球比分 College, the concentration is designed to provide a dynamic learning context that blurs lines between authored, collaborative, and interpretive models of performance. It serves students who have established or emerging performance practices in areas of theater (directing, acting, writing), dance (choreography, dance, movement), music and sound (performance, composition, installation), spoken word and other oral forms, hybrid performance practices, digital performance, and the intersection of performance and technology (including filmmaking).

Many of the core concentration faculty have professional qualifications in the area of performance creation, inclusive of study or practice in the fields of theater, dance, music, sound, visual arts, spoken word and other oral forms, and performance
art.
Rachael Van Fossen has 25 years experience as a professional theatre director, performance creator, community-engaged theatre and interdisciplinary creative process in Montreal. Her MFA studies included significant research in performance studies and performance art.
Andrea Parkins has a 25-year career as an internationally known performer and arts educator working with sound, gesture, interactive technology and improvisation in the context of music composition, installation art, contemporary dance and intermedia performance creation. She has lectured on live intermedia and sound performance at colleges and conservatories in the U.S. and Europe, and received awards for her work with interactive sound technologies from New York State Council on the Arts, the French American Cultural Exchange, and the Cultural Board of the City of Hamburg, Germany.
Peter Hocking has an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts that was partly focused on performance intervention and performance theory. He also has an MFA in Creative Writing and routinely works with playwrights and performance artists on script development. For 26 years, Hocking has taught courses and led educational programs at Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design that utilized performance and performance intervention strategies.
Gale Jackson is a poet, storyteller, writer and teaching artist. She has received a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship for her work in griot traditions, worked for many years in university, public and community education, and as a lecturer, performer, researcher and librarian.
